London-based pharmacy and health supplies distribution specialist Jumbogate had grown the business at such a rate that it had simply run out of space. As the orders kept coming in, it needed a space solution fast.
Even though Jumbogate soon secured a 45,000sq.ft industrial building in a good location, it was run down and needed a complete refurbishment.
Spaceway was invited to meet with the business owners and discuss possible space solutions and ideas after coming highly recommended by a mutual business contact. After ideas and prices had been presented and discussed, Spaceway was soon selected as the main contractor for the design and build contract.
The project started when Spaceway obtained full building control approval for the project, submitting structural calculations, fire certifications and engineering drawings along with a formal application on the clients’ behalf. The final designs were presented for construction and dates for completion agreed.
The project got underway soon after approval and included a 20,000sq.ft mezzanine floor installation with steel staircases , steel partitioning, roller shutter doors and a mezzanine goods lift to the first floor. The first floor was fitted with new heavy industrial floor tiles that can easily be uplifted and replaced as well as take heavy trolley, pallet and fork lift truck loads. The client was so pleased that the entire ground floor was also fitted with them.
Shelving and racking systems were fitted including the latest energy efficient lighting complete with movement detectors in each racking aisle.
A full L1 fire alarm and smoke detection system was fitted along with a security systems to the clients specific insurance requirements.
Once the warehouse was fitted out and handed back for client operations, Spaceway was given the task to refurbish the existing offices with the addition of fully glazed partitioning, carpets and air conditioning.
Finally, the last part of the project was to fit perimeter security fencing and a large motorised sliding steel gate to the entrance of the premises.
