December 20, 2021Mezzanine floors are a great way to provide additional space in an industrial building when more office, storage or production space is required. However, when designing a mezzanine floor, allowances must be made for adequate safe means of escape in case of fire. We know fires don’t happen on a regular basis, but should one occur all business owners and managers have a duty of care for their staff to make sure that routes out of the building are easily identified, have clear access and deliver them to a safe area quickly.
Spaceway makes sure all mezzanine floors and fire escape staircases it designs meet with the latest requirements of building regulations and fire safety. All installations are inspected on completion and compliance certification is provided for clients.
In some premises, options for staircase locations are limited and the fire exit door could be too far away. The image shows a new door and external step recently installed by Spaceway within the side of an existing industrial premises which solved the problem. We love to provide solutions, not problems!
