British artist Alex Chinneck is well known for his stunning art pieces, but his new design has taken a disused office building and turned it, the side of it at least, into an astonishing work of art. The artist spent a night designing his piece “Open To The Public” which is a surreal sculpture designed on the side of a 1960’s office block in Ashford, Kent. The artwork, which is only open for the summer, is the most recent in a line of amazing artworks by the talented Brit.
The artist, 34, is known for his challenging and brilliant reinterpretations of buildings and has previously wowed audiences with a work in London’s Covent Garden that made a building appear to be floating in the air. Chinneck’s reimagination of buildings is an interesting and thought-provoking body of work and may help businesses to reimagine their workspaces. Certainly, we have found Chinneck’s work to be thought-provoking and has certainly given us some ideas going forward.
Britain’s Changing Buildings
Britain has large numbers of office buildings that are currently being renovated to serve alternative purposes. This shift has meant that companies are looking for alternative ways to use their workspaces. Indeed companies such as ours have had to move with the times and our design team is more innovative than ever, providing solutions to suit all manner of different applications for businesses that need to change what they want to do with their premises. Our adaptable attitude has kept us at the leading edge of warehouse, office and mezzanine floor design for over 40 years and our clients trust us to create amazing solutions that fit their businesses perfectly.
New Ideas
Going forward we are expecting many changes to the way business is done in the UK and this means that buildings will need to change to suit them. The advent of the gig economy, Brexit and ever increasing decentralisation means that businesses will require alternative solutions for their current premises. While clearly Chinneck’s work is unlikely to give you a clue as to what the future of commercial property holds, it does offer some thought provocation as to the way in which buildings and their interiors are likely to change in the coming years. It has certainly sparked some creativity in our design team and our team are keen to stay on the leading edge of change.
