Sportsbikeshop is one of the UK’s leading motorcycle clothing and accessories retailers. Following continued growth and success, the business has been rolling out new stores across the country, with Southampton marking their first location on the South Coast and their 11th store nationwide.

The new shop was designed to provide a physical space that captures the same passion and extensive product range as their popular online store, giving motorcyclists a destination to experience products and customer service in person.

The story of the project

The Challenges

Sportsbikeshop acquired a building Spaceway had previously worked in and approached us to deliver the fit-out for their new store.

Key requirements included:

Extending the existing mezzanine floor we had installed years earlier, this time designing it for public access with compliant handrails and staircases
Installing full fire protection across the space.
Constructing changing rooms and partitioned areas to improve functionality.
Dry lining walls and applying a high-quality decorative finish to help define different retail zones and enhance the customer experience.

The project needed to be carried out within a practical timeframe to ensure the store could open just days after completion.

The Solution

Spaceway delivered a bespoke solution that extended and upgraded the existing mezzanine floor, ensuring it was safe and accessible for the public. Fire-rated materials were installed to meet building regulations, while new partitions and changing rooms were constructed to suit the retail environment.

The finishing touches included carefully planned decorative elements, with feature paintwork to create a modern and engaging in-store atmosphere.

The Result

The project was completed smoothly and on schedule, enabling Sportsbikeshop to open their new Southampton store within days of handover.
