About the Project
Somerset firm Gooch and Housego PLC chose Office fit out and Factory fit out specialist Spaceway to bring their project in on time and to budget.
Gooch and Housego were running out of space fast as a result of continued growth due to the continued success of its new product ranges, meant the three existing buildings they occupied in central Ilminster were no longer able to meet their current requirements and plans for future growth.
Having secured the former Clarke Shoes factory site, and establishing a project team, the missing link was an interiors contractor who could provide design and build experience so to turn the project team’s conceptual ideas into a workable project.
Spaceway were among a number of companies that were chosen to tender for the works and were soon selected to join the project team based on their competitive pricing and a willingness to work on designs and space plans prior to the formal contract being put in place.
Once the plans, designs and proposed products were approved, the interior of the 100,000 sq.ft three-storey office block was stripped back to its original structure, lined out and insulated to meet building control requirements and prevent energy wastage via heat gain or loss. The offices were fitted out with stylish glazed partitioning, integral blinds, veneer doors and suspended ceilings.
Finally the offices were decorated and carpets laid using Milliken’s ‘Catalyst’ range. Open plan offices, meeting rooms, kitchens, tea points, a reception and conference areas were all fitted out using a colour scheme chosen by Gooch & Housego from the Spaceway mood board presentations.
The latest high frequency energy efficient lighting was recessed into the suspended ceilings and data cabling, compartment trunking and electrics were fitted throughout the office areas. The fitting of a smart new curved reception desk completed the look.
