Car Link was established in 2010 and are the approved RAC BuySure dealer for used cars in Dorset. They initially contacted Spaceway to discuss their options for converting an industrial unit to a leading car showroom.
Originally a refrigerated storage facility, this good sized industrial unit needed to be converted to a welcoming and useable workspace. Allowing easy access for vehicles and customers.
Spaceway produced an extensive set of plans and design concepts for how this building could be converted to become an exciting and welcoming space for Car Link’s many existing and new customers.
The front of the building was adapted and enhanced by the addition of a glass curtain wall, to flood natural light throughout the building and across two levels. Glass sliding doors were installed in front of the roller shutter door to allow easy access for vehicles into and out of the showroom.
Inside we designed and added a large mezzanine floor. This specially designed and reinforced floor needed to both by practical and inconspicuous. The steel structure for the mezzanine columns was fully clad for fire protection and installed aesthetically to blend seamlessly into the showroom surrounds and suspended ceilings.
I was so happy I did not get bothered throughout the extensive works and that a strict timetable was completed flawlessly. Fantastic experience all round.

Additionally, the mezzanine floor needed to integrate with the car lift, allowing vehicles to be safely transported between floors, as well as incorporating the existing office spaces. As well as adding a staircase to access the upper level.
The glass curtain wall really does flood natural light into both levels of the building, as you can see from the images and the video below.
