About the Project
Spaceway completed what is almost certainly the largest pallet live installation on the Isle of Wight for woodburner manufacturer A J Wells & Sons. The installation stores more than 1,800 pallets on a full width roller bed system.
Spaceway was awarded the contract not only because of a long-term trading history with A J Wells, but due in part to understanding the company’s requirements and coming up with a solution to accomodate all of its requirements.
The project was comprised of two areas; one for the parts department and the other for the main storage area of the built stoves.
For the parts storage area, Spaceway proposed and installed a multi-tier pallet racking system with integral walkways and an inter-floor conveyor to service the two floors. The main stove storage area was more difficult as A J Wells palletised its products on varying special sized pallets with a wide fluctuation on weight. Working closely with the company, Spaceway designed and installed a full-width roller bed system to accomodate the varying pallet types.
The installation was completed within one month, on time and to budget. Spaceway is now already planning stages for phase two.
After phase one, Spaceway completed phase two of a pallet live racking installation for Isle of Wight-based woodburner specialist A J Wells, taking the company’s storage capacity within the system to almost 3,600 pallets.
The project means A J Wells can now store all of its stoves, ready for despatch, on site without the need for external storage.
Phase one of the installation saw a full-width roller bed put in, allowing for the safe storage of various sized pallets within the system. The installation was completed within the very tight timescale of less than 3 weeks, and was handed over on the agreed date.
