About the project

Dolphin Fitness is the UK’s premier online store for nutritional supplements and home fitness equipment. The company, based in Hove on the south coast of England, undertakes all works from the same premises – from orders, to picking, packing and shipping. Due to the success of the company, they expanded quickly and therefore grew out of their existing building.

Customer Requirements

Dolphin needed larger premises. At Spaceway, we had been working on a project with Dolphin to increase capacity in their existing building, but soon realised that this would not accommodate the expected growth. Dolphin needed to move to a larger warehouse.

Dolphin required a complete warehouse design to meet their requirements. This included pick locations and hundreds of full pallet locations, a packing area, offices, mezzanine floor and a complete mechanical and electrical fit-out.

After a few meetings with Dolphin, our designs were finalised. The new warehouse was acquired in close proximity to the existing facility, enabling the installation to be completed in the tight timescale required.

The Details

The Spaceway Solution

We developed bespoke plans with Dolphin to accommodate all their specific requirements; from an area for picking small items to full pallet locations. Setting about putting together a detailed programme, we took care of the CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations and allocated a full time client manager to the project. We also designed the complete mechanical and electrical element, and installed all modern LED lighting, air conditioning, power and data.

Conclusion and Benefits

The benefits of our bespoke design solution enabled Dolphin to accommodate all of their products with extra room for future expansion. Our installation created a light, airy and vibrant picking efficiencies and operation at Dolphin. This is also provided an overall more secure site.
