About this project
A design and build warehouse fit out solution was completed on time and to budget by Spaceway for their client ATM.
About
ATM Parts Company Limited was established 11 years ago to supply automated teller machine (ATM) parts and services to banks, OEMs, maintainers and repairers. The business expanded and began refurbishing decommissioned machines and was soon supplying parts and refurbished machines to companies worldwide. The company was based in two small units in Fleet, Hampshire, and leased a warehouse for storage in Aldershot from the army.
When Geoff Webb, ATM Parts Logistics Manager, joined the company he was immediately aware of the inefficiency of the setup. The lease was coming to an end on the Aldershot warehouse and it was not renewable, this was an opportunity to restructure the way the company worked, and relocating was the solution.
Geoff Webb recalls: “What particularly impressed me about Spaceway, and set them apart from the rest, was the manner in which they approached the brief. Although I had provided information on our requirements, they were immediately able to suggest alternative schemes, and advise how the space could be used more effectively. This coupled with their track record and proven experience made Spaceway the clear choice.”
Malcolm Jeary, Spaceway’s then Managing Director, recalls: “We were very excited at the prospect of undertaking this project as it incorporated all aspects of our business, from warehouse racking to office accommodation.
“It’s always a great challenge to specify those products and mould a design which exactly suits the client’s requirements.”
“The relocation and centralisation of the operation has significantly reduced the overheads of the company. More importantly perhaps, we were able to dramatically reduce lead times on deliveries and with far less effort! This in turn has led to increased customer satisfaction.
What’s more the overall image of ATM has been improved, with superior and professional facilities. We now have a space which we can alter according to the demands of the business.”
The 2 phases of the project
The first phase of the works was to install a 315m² FlooriTall™ Mezzanine Floor – extending the first floor offices and to accommodate the small parts storage area above and below. The warehouse was also fit out as part of this phase.
The warehouse design had to accommodate a new Flexi forklift truck and the racking layout had to take this into account. By using the Flexi truck ATM Parts were able to incorporate an extra run of racking into the warehouse, which significantly increased their storage capabilities.
The second phase of the works involved fitting out all office accommodation, engineering workshops and the canteen. This was achieved using Komfort Office and Industrial partitioning systems, freestanding screens, office and canteen furniture, ceilings, lighting and floor coverings (carpet tiles and vinyl)
