Push Back Racking
Spaceway have years of experience in providing Push Back systems for the storage of pallets.
Working with BITO, a German manufacturer, we can offer free advice and planning to ensure that the system is right for you.
We have 2 main systems, a full width roller bed and trolley system as detailed below:
1. Full Width Roller Bed System:
This system incorporates a full width roller bed, which offers reliability and the ability to store different pallet types and with load overhangs. A further advantage is that there is no theoretical maximum number of pallets that can be stored in the depth -we have completed installations of over 12 pallets deep.
Another feature is the lack of rails or runners which could get jammed with wrapping material or debris.
Applications
Enables runs of racking backing onto a wall or other type of barrier to be fully utilised. All product types can be stored from food to hardware and electrical products. Push-back racking is particularly useful in marshalling areas and for bulk storage and handling.
Features:
- Up to 85% floor space utilisation of available floor space
- High quality storage, all pallets supported
- Fast throughput, due to ease of loading and unloading racks
- Selectivity is reduced to first-in last-out
2. Rail System:
This designed variation to the push-back principle features push-back pallet racking equipped with a push-back rail. Whilst maintaining all the advantages of the push-back principle, this variation allows low cost and efficient short side on pallet in-feeding and can also easily accommodate pallets with unfavourably shaped skids or feet. The carefully designed configuration of roller tracks and push-back rails guarantees that the pallets are safely located on the rollers or the rails. The first pallet is placed onto the push-back rails. When the second pallet is fed into the lane, the first pallet is pushed back – together with the push-back rails which glide smoothly over the rollers. The second pallet is seated directly onto the roller tracks. Due to the use of ball-bearing rollers the installation operates with a very small lane incline. This means that service trucks do not need as much push-in drive as would be required for conventional systems.
Features:
- Space-saving storage according to the LIFO principle
- particularly efficient for 2 pallet deep storage and short side on handling
- reduced lane incline makes this solution ideal for low building heights
- optimum utilisation of the available warehouse height
- constant availability of pallets at the picking side
- optimum adaptation to all types of pallet skids or feet
- system also accepts pallets with bad travel characteristics
We also provide the racking, tailor made to suit the gradient, incorporating specially designed beams and frames to take the extra weight these systems impose.
The applications are varied, but Push Back can be used in the following ways:
Push Back racking is often used to collate loads ready for despatch, for example in marshalling areas or distribution hubs.
Push Back racking is also often used in freezer and cold stores where a single picking aisle maximises the available space
Push back is also often used above picking aisle to store buffer stock, this is useful when segregating pickers from fork lift activity.
The system can be designed to store wooden, metal or plastic pallets up to 1500kgs in weight. Please contact us to discuss your requirements in more detail
