The Challenge

Southampton-based toy manufacturer, Bandai, famous for producing toys and games including Power Rangers, Badge It & Pokemon, recently called in Spaceway to provide new furnishings to update their offices and reception and accommodate their large storage needs.

Ray Dorrity, Bandai Operations Manager, also explained: "Not only did we have a massive storage requirement, but it was important to improve the overall office environment as part of our commitment to the staff.

Spaceway's Approach

Spaceway Interiors Business Manager, Ian Amos, was invited to present a proposal and remarks: "It was an exciting opportunity to provide a complete re-design of the office layouts.

"We were able to make best use of the space using 120º desking from the Senator range.

"We also specified a total of 103,000 linear metres of storage in total, which is a lot for 18 people, but has met their needs exactly.

"The overall result is that we have been able to provide Bandai with a clean and tidy environment that will serve the company well into the future as their office continues to evolve."

Products Used

The open plan area was furnished with Senator Jigsaw Plus workstations finished in Maple melamine. Fabric covered desk-mounted screens were used around the workstations to form 3-person clusters – curved storage was also incorporated into the clusters. Around the Managers areas fabric covered floor standing screens were installed.

In the cellular offices Senator Jigsaw Plus workstations were specified, finished in the same colours as those in the open plan area and complete with 3-drawer steel pedestal units

Clients Comments

"The proposal offered both value for money and innovative design which would clearly accommodate our needs."

The Challenge

The installation of Komfort Mirage double glazed partitioning by integrated interior space solutions provider, Spaceway, has helped create a stylish and practical office environment for leading water filter manufacturer Brita, at the company’s new 62,500 sq ft purpose built headquarters in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Spaceway was awarded the contract by project designers and builders, The Mainland Construction Group, for its ability to provide quality, cost effective products and carry out installation within a rigid time frame.

Spaceway's Approach

A registered contractor for Komfort interiors, Spaceway supplied and fitted the Mirage partitioning to create 18,000 sq. ft of attractive and airy office accommodation. This involved Spaceway turning Mainland’s detailed designs into reality by installing 200 linear metres of solid and full height double-glazed partitioning, of which 46 linear metres was double-glazed with integral blinds. Spaceway has used the Mirage partitioning to create 12 offices and meeting rooms that now form a practical yet sophisticated working environment for the UK’s market leader in water filtration.

The Challenge

Spaceway South, has won a major order from art and craft company, Design Objectives, to fit out its new headquarters and distribution centre at Woolsbridge Industrial Park, near Wimborne.

Having expanded year on year by since Managing Director, Andrew Knowles, established the company in 1996; the company was desperate to find new premises to accommodate its increasing workforce and expanding stockholding.  Originally, Andrew Knowles thought he would not be able to find a site large enough for the company’s needs and would have to move into two buildings.  However, at the last minute the facility at Woolsbridge Industrial Park became available which was large enough to accommodate offices and warehousing under one roof.

Spaceway's Approach

As soon as the site was acquired, Spaceway South set about converting the large warehouse and showroom into a prestigious headquarters for Design Objectives.  The 50,000 sq. ft facility, needed to include 5,000 sq. ft of office accommodation, a showroom, design studio and photography area as well as 20,000 sq. ft. of racked warehousing. In order to accommodate all Design Objectives requirements, Spaceway South incorporated a large FlooriTall™ mezzanine floor into its design, which now houses the 5,000 sq. ft of office accommodation.  The offices were then fitted with powder coated aluminium double glazed external windows, Komfort ‘Kameo’ office partitioning, suspended ceilings and finished off with carpet tiles and a Samsung combined heating and cooling system.  The disused reception area was extensively refurbished and carpeted and a showroom created and finished with wood effect flooring.  Last of all, Spaceway South supplied and installed pallet storage racking to the 50,000 square foot warehouse to make maximum use of the space available and to create 3,000 picking faces

“Spaceway South pulled out all the stops and fast tracked the project by splitting it into two phases so that we could move into the offices two weeks earlier than we anticipated”, said Andrew Knowles.  “Our employees are delighted with their bright, new, airy surroundings which have improved staff morale and enhanced communications as we are now all accommodated on one level.”
