The installation of four mezzanine floors at Pearsons TV

studios. 

Working to designs by Mightangle Ltd and with main

contractor HBG Construction, Spaceway had to act fast to

ensure that new facilities at the studios did not interfere with

filming schedules for programmes such as The Bill.

The Spaceway team worked around a tight timetable to

install four Flooritall mezzanine floors and Komfort

partitioning to create office suites, meeting rooms, a casting

room and edit suite.

In addition, a special lift providing access for people with

disabilities was also installed.

Providing additional shop-floor space for a clothing store at

the Reading Oracle Centre, with a mezzanine floor on the

second level. 

Following successful contracts carried out for other units at

the Reading Oracle Centre, Spaceway was approached by

shopfitters TA Building Services, to help provide an

additional sales area, in excess of 400 meters square, for

distinctive Spanish clothing chain, Zara.

A Flooritall mezzanine floor on the second level provided a

fast-track solution to extending the shop, produced to fit in

with the overall design concept.

As with the other units at the newly built Oracle shopping

complex, Spaceway had to contend with large steel beams

and night-time working. With Spaceway on site within four

weeks, the Zara store was ready two weeks later in time for its

scheduled opening date.

Due to Winstanley Pramworld’s ongoing success it needed to relocate from it’s existing warehouse to a much larger site so as to accomodate its increased volumes of products and protect its future expansion plans

Spaceway have had a long standing working relationship with the Winstanley family and recently fitted out a new warehouse for Winstanley Bikes and therefore were called in to look at this new project.

The brief was to come up with a storage solution that utilised the available space within the building and maximising the operational efficienceys. Spaceway, through regular site meetings worked with Winstanley’s came up with a design to accomodate all their requirements..

The first part of the project was the installation of a two tier mezzanine floor so as to use the height within the building, this provided an additonal 862m2 of floor space. Due to the area of the floor and in line withbuilding regulations fire protection was fitted, this included suspended ceilings and column casings to give a one hour protection to the main structure. Spaceway also designed and installed a lighting system to suit which included for emergency lights and alarm.

The final element of the works which was vital to the overall operation to move products between the floors was to install two interfloor conveyors, these were fitted with intelligent controls that enabled products to not only feed both floors but accumulate products on the conveyors so a single indivdual could operate the system.
